Default Can you answer any of these questions?

Here are 3 questions that are sometimes asked in an interview. Can You honestly answer them? If so, please do.
The purpose for this is the I have been asked at least 2 of them and came up speechless. I know that it depends on the type of work. But for those who can answer them may give others an idea on what to soul seach for.

(1)What are your interests?

(2)what are your values?

(3)what are your strengths?

I have never been asked questions 1 or 2. I am always asked #3 and I just tell them what my strengths are - organized, detail-oriented, easy to get along with, team player, etc.

1)interests: what are they? I think they want to know how you spend your spare time...being a couch potato or do you like to learn new things by taking classes, etc. something that is worthwhile.
2)values: kind of tough...now that you know it could be asked, the next time you have an interview w/a company go to their website & see what the company values/mission statement are and align them with some of yours.
3)strengths: things that pertain to the job--detail oriented (accounting), like to meet new people (marketing), etc.
Good luck on your job hunt!!!

What are your interests?
Have been asked that before with no problem answering. I simply included boating and fishing.
What are your values?
Have never been asked that before......must be a new question. Wouldn't even know how to answer that. I could see a Pastor or Minister asking me that question, but an employer, hummmmmmmm!
What are your strengths?
Have no problem coming up with answers for that question either. BUT, when asked "What are your weaknesses?"......hummm, that question I don't like b/c I don't like talking about myself in a negative way.
Boy, employers today just can't stick to the job interview, they have to on and on and on about other stuff! Geeshhhhhhh!!

(1)What are your interests? - staying current with softwares used in the industry; developing relationships with counterparts in other companies; becoming a "go-to" resource for my superiors;

(2)what are your values? - honesty, integrity, ability to keep confidences;

(3)what are your strengths? - staying current with the industry and knowing the markets; knowing the key players in the company; attention to detail;

Just a few...

Yes I can ... and depending on what position I'm interviewing for, I'll most likely have different answers. And that's the problem.... these are such vague questions, the majority of the time the applicant will simply say what is appropriate for that position (or what they think the hiring manager wants to hear).

I think the easiest way to know if a candidate is a good one is to take them to lunch as part of their interview process.... and these days, where interviews last a half a day or more, it's not out of the ordinary. Most people relax and show their "true colors" when doing something they are accustomed to.

Not saying everyone lies at interviews... but I always found that doing something "informal" helps both parties understand each other more.

What are your values???? That is a rare one for sure. I have been an interviewing fool for months now and have never been asked that. I keep my answers to the others very brief...don't want to give too much away. Good luck on your job search.

(1)What are your interests?
I say what my interests are and then I also add something that is related to my job. I am an engineer in the IT industry, so I say:
I like motorsports and I play soccer, volleyball, basketball and tennis, and I also like to research on gadgets and gizmos and innovations in technology.

(2)what are your values?
Honesty, integrity, coming on time, communicating to the team early in the project, being ready to take the blame if at fault and not trying to cut corners.

(3)what are your strengths?
I am a fast learner (give an example here), I believe in following the process (thats one of the things that they want to hear), I am determined to achieve results, I am able to motivate my team when things go out of control (example required here)
