Question Excuse needed: New hire at company A and interviewing at company B

My daughter has a new job. She is still being called by recruiters. She wants to keep her options open. She has been working at this job 2 weeks.

What does she tell her boss regarding time off for an out-of-state interview?

The truth? Family obligations? Any suggestions?

She needs to make up her mind as to what she wants. As for an excuse, if she is afraid to tell the truth, that should be an indication she knows it is a bad move to continue to press on looking for greener pastures. If she wants to keep looking, then be prepared for the consequences when she tells the owners the truth of why she needs time to go out of state. Anything less is not fair to the current employer, and not fair to her either.

Really she has no real excuse to take time offf after only two weeks. I am sure she will fool no one and it is never a good thing to start lying. It gets to be a habit.

I was thinking the same thing. And in the current economic climate I would have to say the a bird in the hand is worth 4 or 5 in the bush. She has a job. If she takes time off after only a couple of weeks for an out of town interview she may end up with no job.
