If your payday falls on a bank holiday do you get paid before or after the holiday?

The reason I ask is that when I asked for advance notice when payday would be delayed, I was informed by the company president that it is COMMON PRACTICE for companies to pay AFTER the holiday. The first response, after, was me.

He also stated that MOST COMPANIES do this... so I'm curious. I have NEVER had it post after the holiday with any other company before and would like to see what others are experiencing.

Thanks!

I was paid on payday or BEFORE payday regardless of holidays, bank or otherwise. That was in the union contract. If the checks were late on payday or the checks were short the employer paid time and a half until you were made whole. And we were paid weekly.

I don't work for union, but I also get paid on payday or the day before if payday is a holiday.

Where I use to work, we got paid before a major holiday. I used to work in construction, so if their pay was after a major holiday, they would beat up the boss. Luckily, it never came to that level.

I also am working for a company that has never paid us on payday, and last week, when New Year's Day Observed fell on payday, we weren't paid until Wednesday. This week, because of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we are not getting paid again until Wednesday. I have NEVER experienced this in my working career. This is outrageous. I work in Tennessee and my employer is based in Arkansas.

We are paid every other Friday, and I think it was July 3 2015 for Independence Day the last time it fell on a holiday, but we get paid the day before. My wife is paid monthly, on the first, unless it falls on a weekend or holiday, then she is paid the day (or 2-3 days) before.
