Boss's gender can promote stress
I knew it!!
I knew working for a female boss was causing me all these ailments. I wasn't this sick when I worked for a man 4 years ago.

Weird, I was happy to start working at my job under a female. Sypathetic and nice, but a few months later I got depressed, anxious and started feeling sick....it's been that way for the most part since I've been here. I don't know if it is connected because I also started college the same time pretty much, so perhaps I am overwhelmed?
At times I do miss working for a male...don't miss the "I am the alpha male" crap they pull though on me though.

Totally true!! I was actually unfairly terminated by a female boss today-- or actually, she TRIED to get me fired but isn't going to succeed, the situation will be reviewed-- but definitely, I have had a big increase in my perimenopausal symptoms the last months and was sick twice this summer with things like a bizarre stomach bug and a nasal virus that lasted 24 hours-- all since I've been working for a female. This female boss actually fabricated an incident report which was based on lies in order to fire me. Female bosses can be mean.

Never worked under a female, but I had bad experiences with a couple Asian bosses, they want you to work to death. Never had any problems with any other bosses (including a Jewish boss for those who like stereotypes).

I've worked for both male and female bosses.
Sorry Ladies, I'll take a male boss over a female boss any day.
The two women bosses I had were backstabbers, liked to grandstand and gossiped worse than anybody.
I have a male boss now and I don't even think I've seen him this week.

Women are harder to work with
Back when I worked full time in Human Resources I was responsible for employee relations. In 90% of cases where employees had a hard time working with others due to interpersonal concerns, it was a women.
But the hardest group was the openly gay workers!

I'm with you 200%.
My boss is exceptional as far as her departmental work goes, but she cannot manage to save her life.

It depends on the setting. In a more summer job setting it doesn't matter if its a male or female....some females are especially nice. I guess its the age thing.
But in a very professional enviornment I'd prefer the boss to be a male. I know it sounds very bad but sometimes I'm uncomfortable around a woman who acts very confident and is very powerfully dressed. This is why I didn't want HIllary Clinton in office, one of the reasons why. Sarah Palin comes across as less uppity so I'm okay with that. I'm more uncomfortable around a snotty uppity woman than a snotty uppity man.
About Asian bosses, I'm Asian American and I think what you mentioned is generally a problem with foreign born ones. If I work for a woman, I'd rather work for a black or Hispanic woman than a white one. I remember having an unbearable boss who was a middle aged woman from New England....can you imagine that?????

I have worked for several females, and only ONE of those was pleasant to work for. The others were absolutely miserable to work for.

I have run into more alpha females than alpha males
I would much rather work with minority women than minority men however
