Oh God, memories are coming back from my wonderful days working in an office. That is why I am on disability, it literally drove me nuts! The funny thing is I worked for the National Mental Health Assn. It was just like you describe in your workplace. Just get another job. It is not worth your health and life is short.
Its just this one person thats bothering me. I get along well with everyone else in that store, managers included.
I won't leave my job ( which is quite cushy, compared to most part time jobs) because of one person.
As I said earlier..my boss is going to speak to the store manager about it. This will be documented on paper, and put into her personnel file. We're all likely to have a come-to-jesus meeting on Wednesday, so I'll have to see how all this plays out.
Will update ya'll as soon as I get the chance. Thanks for all the input and support. I appreciate it.
This thread is crackin me up!! Sorry OP but some of the comments are funny including yr suggestion to lock her in the deep freezer. It's really a catch 22 for the employer since they don't want to cross any lines of discrminating against the disabled. But, I'm sorry she is a fruit loop as someone said and she needs a job in an office with her and her imaginary friends. I sympathize with mental illness but some cannot coexist with society. This country did a serious disservice to mentally ill folks when they started closing down all the state run institutions and just turning these people loose on the street and onto the rest of us!
I hope you get it resolved. And no you should NOT have to quit your job that you enjoy. That is ridiculous to even suggest. You are not the problem!
^ what sort of freaky person gets drunk in a target parking lot?
You havent been down in my part of the country, have you, Artsy?
And at this point, dont let me near this person with a candle. I am liable to find another use for it besides creating a nice atmosphere.
Ive also considered taking a collection from my co-workers to see if we can pay some poor customer to take her home with them...but decided against it.
I'm surprised this person still has a job. It sounds like it's documented, and well known how she behaves, even mgmt. acknowledges it, and yet she's still there.
One of those managers needs to get a spine and give her the boot. If they are a decent manager, they will have documentation supporting their case in case they try to pull out the BS discrimination card.
Best of luck. Try not to let it get to you. Take the high road, and let her own actions bring her down. Best advice was already given, document everything. Could you bring a small digital camera and film her behavior? Or just record audio even? In any case, keep at least a detailed written record, as others have suggested.
