I just simply cut-out going out to eat altogether. I still live with my parents, and still am able to pay my bills and car payment. No stress on me

Yes... that, and the honest to Goddess fact of life that not everyone CAN make it through school. Not even vocational school. It may not be PC, it may not be what others want to hear, but really... some people just don't have what it takes to even make it through a year or two of community college.

Furthermore... who is going to sweep the floors, fry up your fries, change your sheets at the hotel once everyone is degreed?

Perhaps someone with a DEGREE in those things.

Janitorial, culinary science, and hospitality degrees!

I still don't have a car in MY name, though it's been registered in hers. I still pay licensing and registration fees. But that doesn't mean I OWN it.
I'm not quite sure what your point is here. This is an entirely different situation. Frankly if women made more money they wouldn't have to have a boyfriend that pays the car upkeep, groceries or get spending money. This use to constitute a kept woman. If and when you ever break up that car is going to be her car by law since its in her name.

Golly I hope you are paying them rent. You don't say how old you are so I hope you are old enough to be in college to justify this life style. Does mom still cook for you, do your laundry etc.? Could you pay your bills and car payments/insurance and eat out if you weren't still living at home?

You just gotta learn to say no to people like that. I had a "friend" w/no car who insisted they couldn't afford a car but spent money a least 3x weekly eating out. They wanted a car with a warranty, vs. paying cash for a good used car, so they insisted on waiting until they had a down payment for that, meanwhile asking ME all the time to take them here or there.

Almost 2 years they had no car, and the amount of money they spent weekly on eating out could have bought them TWO good used Honda Civics or similar.

Finally I put my foot down... they got where they were expecting rides, not really even asking anymore... and never offering gas money. Always wanting to stop here or there while I sat in the car, melting, and it would "just be a minute". Oh, they did take my family out to eat ONCE in this year and thought that made it even. When we had words about it all they insisted they'd NEVER asked me for rides even though I had several text messages in my phone proving them wrong. I hate people that turn psycho and "forget" when they get mad.

Some people do fine using the bus only. My sister in law is bus-only but she saves up for cab fare if she needs to do a lot of grocery shopping or whatever... she doesn't bug her friends and family who have cars.

When we had no car briefly after ours died, we only asked for a ride from a friend ONE time, and it was to go buy another car!
Oh my God, I thought I was alone in this horrible kind of situation. LOL
I agree to say no, and I have said no but like a bad penny this particular person keeps coming back. The going psycho thing is really funny, because my 'friend' doesn't go psycho but if she is'nt priming me to play taxi she gets real testy, crabby, short tempered and annoyed as L. if I forget her schedule.
Reminds me for weeks in advance of her upcoming birthday but has never once remembered mine. I used her tactics one year and started a month ahead of time talking about my birthday. That netted me one card and lunch at at Indian restaurant. That was about 4 years ago. Christmas same thing. Last year she gave me a huge heavy ugly bedspread for a queen size bed, knowing full well I have a twin size. I suspected from the beginning that she got it for her bed and didn't like it (it was from a catalog) and didn't want to carry something that heavy to the post office to return it so pawned it off on me. I gave it back a week or two later and told her to return it that I'd never use it. She did but didn't pay the insurance. Of course the post office lost it and gave her the mailing label back. She never did give me even a token Christmas present. I'm still trying to get over this. lol. But laughing at her stupidity of not paying a couple dollars insurance.
I can't believe these people could bold faced lie and tell you that they never asked for a ride. What gall. And what is a dinner out once a year. Bah, some people are just a PITB.
My 'friend' is afraid to drive. Is never going to get a car. Like I said she is afraid of everything. Afraid of the escalator, theme park rides, walking a couple blocks to the bus stop in the winter because of the ice/snow. Afraid in the grocery store parking lot cause someone might hit her. Everything normal people do she has never done. Still a virgin at 55, never had a pet, never had a male friend at all, not gay either. She put together a montage of photos from her work place of 30 years and I said what a sad waste of a lifetime. Never experience anything in life, just go to work every day, go home be in bed by 8:30 or 9:00. I asked her one night if she wanted to go eat as I'd be near her place, it was 7:30 pm. No, it was too late. lol. I just feel really sad that anyone could have such a useless, self centered life.
Enjoyed your input and happier knowing I'm not the only one being taken advantage of.

vote the republicans out of office so we can make changes in our society instead of having to live from one pay check to another one . Having to get 4 jobs just so you can feed your children and clothe them. I really that is ridiculous when a woman has to work 4 jobs just to pay her bills and they are all full-time jobs. She works as a school bus driver, gets off work goes to her second job that finishes then her third but babysitting, and fourth watching elderly people. when does she have time for her children? That is what Bush has done to this country and he says the economy is great no it isn't Nobody wants to say the word DEPRESSION of 2008 that is it. all the rules to going into a depression have been followed down to the last t. He has outsourced jobs, he devalued the dollar, the stock market is not steady and now they are wanting to shut it down so it doesn't completely fall out like it did on 9-11. We are there and so many people are lossing their homes day after day . their is no middle income there is only rich and poor. whoever thinks they are middle income that is joke. More people are loosing their jobs everyday. The layoffs are getting larger and larger. The economy has affected texas really horrible we went and it is hard to get a job in texas

Man, I was thinking of getting a PT job to supplement my Unemployment Benefits but looking there were too many jobs that were low paying. It's like a slave economy for those jobs, - retail, typing, factory, etc. I'd rather move back home with my parents, live rent free, and borrow money until my next $30+ / hr job. But I got $12K now.

Yeah, you need a college degree to be middle class!

The point was getting somewhere WITHOUT a car. Which I ordinarily do. I don't drive...I don't LIKE to drive. And I don't NEED to drive. Work is close enough to my home that I can walk there in 10 minutes. Or the grocery store, for that matter. And if it's more than a couple hours walk, I can take a bus.

A car's not necessary...so if she wants to take it with her, she's more than welcome to do so. I don't WANT it. I don't want material possessions.
