18 year old son is going to a communist rally in the city on Sunday. My feeling is he will be photographed (and possibly arrested) just for being there. Plus I think it could possibly effect future employment if down the road he wanted to work for the government or even teaching. Am I off base? Thanks in advance.

Maybe not teachign but it might depending on where in government he applies.If he has to give a conviction record other might also but it isn't just communist but any disturbance.

if he thinks communism is the solution to our economic problems, he has got a lot to learn! haha.

I don't think it will affect him personally. Most of these protesters are arrested and released shortly after with no charges.

The only reason they arrest is for show- to show that they are the masters and you are the slaves.

To me, it is no longer the McCarthy era. While it might hurt with a government job that requires a security clearance if he does get arrested, but outside of that I really don't see a problem. Heck, I'm in the military and a buddy of mine is a socialist of all things. While he does not advertise the fact, he also does not hide it and he has no problems.

Tell your son to rally for something he can actually achieve or change.

If he is arrested and release with no charges tell him to file the paperwork to have it expunged from his record.Arrest records without a conviction is supposed to not be a public record but sometimes it gets out anyway. Especaialy attorney's seem to have way of getting them.Also securioty clearances and stuuf like that can get them.

Thanks-I'm a mom, So I will worry. I hate crowd dynamics. Anything can happen when you are in a large gathering.

Son has also joined Earth First. He tells me that meeting is the following Sunday. & he is doing a beach cleanup with them. That I'm happy about but I also show him all the aricles about the ELF people getting arrested & remind him not to go overboard!
