I worked for Bank of america about ten years ago. What number do I put on my applications for potential employers to contact about prior work? The HR dept number seems to be for associates only and I dont want a potential employer to get the runaround when all they are trying to do is get confirmation that I worked there.

Potential employers want to talk to your immediate supervisor.
If you left the company in good standing and have maintained a good relationship with your manager, give his/her direct number.

If your manager is no longer with the company or you were not in good standing with them when you left, give the number to the HR department.

By law, an employer is only allowed to confirm your employment but there ARE individuals out there who have used a background check to bash a former employee. HR employees are generally better equipped and trained for these calls.

That is what I meant. After spending all kinds of time trying to track down the HR department, all I am getting is a number to the associates department.

My manager does not work for the bank anymore. When I say background, I know that they can only ask a few basic questions about dates and salary.

You might try indicating a former co-worker as a contact?

Call the location where you worked and ask the current mngr what number should you give for employment verification.

I have information on a Bank of America Merchant Services (BAMS) employee that is employed but commited resume fraud; she lied about the degree. How can this be reported for ethical purposes?
