Yeah that is really sad!
But at least travel nurses usually can get another assignment can't they? And I thought travel nursing is a contract for a job that is really in need of workers. So why after the person get there would they get the axe if their is such a shortage of nurses as is reported? Maybe the supervisor didn't like them??? I'm just asking.

Well that's why it's better to get your education and start a career. Not saying that he might not have a degree or that blue-collar jobs are bad... but anyone with at least an Associates Degree can get a good, decent pay and job security. This sucks for the guy having to drive 2,000 miles east only to find another roadblock in his life.

True true... especially with the crappy economy here in the US. But it depends 1) where you are working and 2) what your position is. But there is no such thing as a sure thing (aka job security) except taxes and death...

This guy's story while sad, is not unique.
Many people move to better themselves/for a job.

I've seen it before--people get relocated only to be laid off within the year.

This guy is tapped out financially after only a day?
What sort of plans did he have to live?
