Default Census jobs for 2010

Thought I would just post this for folks who may be interested in doing this:

US Census Bureau 2010 Jobs Main Page

As I understand from reading the site, "Most hiring will take place February through May, 2009." Looks like they start early in getting people in place.

Hope this helps someone!

I applied today at a local library. There was a short (30 minute) test and they let us know if we passed, then we will be contacted at a later date.

They say that the pay is very good and that evening and weekend hours are preferred times to work. They are hiring F, PT, clerical, enumerators (door-to-door), managers. The job is temp, up to ten weeks.

Anyone interested should check the link provided by the OP. There you will find details and a number to call that will transfer you to a local number. I was scheduled for the test four hours after my call, but could have gone tomorrow or another day. In the documents section of the site you can download the application and I-9. A sample test should be on there soon. The application can be filled out online and printed or you can go to your appoitnment and they have everyting that you need there.

Would love to hear from anyone further along in the process. They are just getting the local office set up where I live, so we were told that the apps would be sent to a regional office for review.

Not to change tracks, but I have been handing out samples for a marketing company on weekends and it pays up to $17 an hour. Can't work as many hours as you want- they are 4-5 hour shifts and they are booked online, so first come first served. The gigs have slowed down recently, but seem to be picking up now that the new year has started. DM me if you want the contact info.

My only concern is that it's only for ten weeks.
Then what? I want something more permanent even though the job seems really interesting and like something I'd enjoy doing.

that is an issue, but for me personally it would be in the extra cash category, although every cash i get now is necessary cash.

and the offices here pay out something like $17.50/hr, so that times 20 hours would help me SO much. Plus I'm pretty much fed up with my job that's taking up that time slot anyway.
