My hubby and I are trying to move out of WNC and I have looked at jobs literally in almost every state and just from my experience it appears as if union works make a lot more. (DH is in construction) However, just from reading the ads it looks as if it's almost impossible to get into a union. Just an example...there were some jobs in the NE, the unions started out about 15 bucks an hour, and the non union jobs started as low as 8.

How do you actually get into a union?!!
