The January 20 2009 deadline for millions of American homecrafters to object to a new law requiring expensive testing of their products, is approaching fast. Child-products without certificates proving they have no lead content, will have to be scrapped

title may be somewhat misleading, but this new law will definitely affect jobs and could not have come at a worse time. imo, this law should have never passed, just more red tape.

Edited to add: this is a kind of a damned if you do damned if you don't situation for the government. They were getting all kinds of flack because they weren't doing much if anything about lead in childrens stuff. Now that they are requiring companies to certify that their products have been tested they are also getting flack for that. What exactly are they supposed to do?
