If you live in a large suburban area or a city you can 'apply all over' or 'go to various agencies.'

Not so in rural no where.

We moved here in Sept. 07 and my husband got a job within 2 months. I had to be pickier because, like I said, until he worked nights, I was the 'at home' parent.

Now I am sort of stalled. I have done the 'rounds' of employment agencies (only 2 here) and sent out unsolicited resumes, and I had a few opportunities but it's hard when you have a child (or children). The last job that was interested in me was also a night job and would have conflicted w/my husband's schedule. I can't leave my son home alone for 6 hours a night...

It seems that the jobs have wacko schedules now--and I have worked in many places. The only people who can accommodate these schedules are single people (w/out kids) or again, older married folks without little children to take care of.

Maybe it's time to write that novel I have been thinking of..

Well writing would be a nice, helpful escape thats good for your brain.

You're right, too, in that most jobs out there seem to be wanting people overnight or ungodly hours. So yes there ARE jobs available but those jobs don't fit into everyone's ability to do. I too cannot leave my children unattended at 2am And my spouse goes to work at 6am, so thats doesn't work.
