Search is on for McDonald's shooting suspect
news story has some info not in the conversation so far--

the guy worked at was a franchised McDonald's --not a store owned by the parent company--

reports of what happen contradict each other but apparently the woman who was hit is the girlfriend/mother of child of the McDonald's guy who was shot--so it was not just any customer he was attempting to protect
one report said guy got the gun out of his car after he finished fighting the first time--
another report says they were fighting in and out of the store and he pulled the gun from his jacket without having to go to his car...

frankly I don't think anyone called 911 until AFTER the boy was shot---BIG mistake

if the fight was over and the guy walked out of the store--Nigel should have locked the door--gone into the mgr's office w/customers and locked it and called 911--

this apparently had a real personal edge to it--woman was just not any customer--and you can't overlook that factor which probably made HIM react more personally than he would have if it were just another customer---it wasn't...so don't ignore that fact...

Wow.
This looks even worse for McD's. Some big " if's ":

If the woman was known to the defender , not a stranger , IE , under a legit personal mantle of protection when assaulted ( struck in the face).

If the criminal went for a possible hidden gun and the defender , being a reasonable & prudent human saw a threat of death or serious bodily injury to an innocent person.

If the criminal , after the blow to the woman's face , made a credible threat to continue and /or escalate the assault to include lethal force.

McDonald's is in very big trouble. A real PR nightmare.
Stupid and unethical should hurt.

Got any more sources , leads , and/or links?

it is only a Google away...

and frankly the press from this is not going to hurt McDonald's enough so that it will come through with a big settlement...whether I approve or not--people will wring their hands and gnash their teeth but if the law was followed by the worker's comp board and he violated policy by going after the guy then he is not entitled to anything and frankly I know that McDonald's does have that policy in their training manuals--so how he can prove it was not taught to him is going to be pretty difficult...especially when all the other employees just stood there ...enforcing policy...
