I was wondering if anyone belonged to an informal group of unemployed people?
I heard about this just last week and I was interested in this concept.
Essentially, you get together with a few people, share ideas, trials, tribulations and assistance with job hunting and all that's associated with it.
I do belong to a church group, but they only meet once a month, which really isn't enough, especially not for me.
Personally, If I am not at my volunteer jobs, I am at home not spending money. If I am out the chances of me spending money is high. This website is free, and the exchange of ideas is good. The only thing i would change, is that I think it would be nice for people to post job links and actual jobs they find that might be of interest to others, in their local job area. That is the only thing that is missing. Also posting resume ideas, and any helpful job information...;-)

Why not start a group?
I meet with a few friends ~1X per week for "coffee". It's really not an "unemployed" group, but rather a mix of self-employed, retired, free-lancers and some un/under-employed. Varies from 2 people to ~5. We could probaby solicit more members if we posted on "meetup" or some other site.

Good idea! You could start a small group in your city/town and organize a meetup. I'm sure there are others here that would be interested in such a group...
It's a nice idea and you never know who you may meet. Even if people are unemployed, it's not true they are all in competition with you for jobs (something people forget when reading these 'stats and figures).
