Bernie Madoff offered a radically different business model as well, and you can see what happened there...

i see your point, but Bernie Madoff and JR Ridinger are 2 totally different people with totally different values, totally different ethics, and totally different business practices. please, if you're going to compare things, compare SIMILAR things.

Bernie was only looking out for himself. JR's main concern in life is to fill stadiums with millionaires that he and his wife helped get to that point. Big difference there.

I'm beginning to see that it really doesnt matter WHAT i say to you. In your eyes, everything I say is wrong, and everything you say is law. whatever. that's so wrong. you're no better than those fanatics way back in the day that wanted to kill Galileo simply for suggesting that the world was a globe and not flat. some of them wouldn't even LOOK at his proof, or even let him explain his findings....

and you never answered my question... figures.

Please tell me you got that out of a handful of fortune cookies, rather than from a pay-to-attend motivational seminar?

I think with any business, if you can figure out how to make more money than you spend, then it is profitable. My qualm with pyramid or semi-pyramid, or whatever you call organizations like this, is that a lot of people end up spending more money on going to, hosting, or sponsoring other people for meetings, conferences, books, etc, then they ever make from it. Although, it is a good way to make friends.

Nothing radical or new about the Ponzi scheme.
Ponzi scheme - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Especially note the section "Similar Schemes"
Of course, every paycheck you get has a deduction for the biggest Ponzi scam of all time - USA Social Security, where the contributions of the newcomers fund the payments to the first subscribers.
The MA plan we are discussing involves actual sales, not recruiting signup bonuses. The sign up fee is less than $200, it goes to corporate, not the distributor, and it buys some actual hardware, literature, and an internet access point. The company has over $1.8 Billion in compensation to distributors in retail profit plus bonuses since 1992. That did not come $200 at a time.

For $10 I could register and build a website and start selling stuff, using Paypal as my shopping cart. The gullibility of some people is astounding.

That is why they are called "Network Marketing". Part of the concept here is that retail profit funds the things you mention, plus personal use, and the bonus is the real income. You come to realize the US Government wants you to be in business for yourself - that is how the tax system is structured. Everything in pursuit of the business is deductible. Today, those expenses go to reduce the federal and state taxes on ordinary income. This is true for any form of business deductions. Consult your local accountant.
