If you are a subject matter expert on just about anything, you can sign up at Guidepoint Global Advisors. I did this a while back and had a call within a week for a consulting job. It turned out that I didn't have the specific type of knowledge that they were looking for, but I referred a former coworker and he did. I got a referral fee ($100!) and he got paid $400 to spend about 90 minutes on the phone letting someone pick his brain.

They paid the referral fee very quickly--I had the check in under a week.

Good luck!

The Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG) is a similar one. Someone referred me and I got paid (you can set your own fee) to talk to some venture capitalist in England. I never pursued it otherwise, but it seems like you can build a profile and present yourself more aggressively.

My Mom owns a very successful travel agency (independently owned since 1986 and still booming, even in light of today's Travel Industry challenges).

She is diligently looking for an outside sales travel agent that specializes in India... someone tied to the Indian community with a large network of friends and family...

Since its outside sales, you don't have to live in the same city, state or even country for that matter! All you have to have is the will and desire and passion to work in the travel industry!

Anyone interested can DM or email me (all my contact info is listed under my id, X2CME) and I'll reply back with the agency's contact info!

I predict that within the next 8 to 10 years India will be the worlds next Europe when it comes to travel!

Well, i have been to india and there are a lot of flights to india. But many of them have been cancelled lately, prob. due to recession. Another problem, is that I took Air India to France and then due to some problem it never came back to collect me. This was two years ago. Another problem is reliability, since I paid for an internal flight to Goa and then the airlines when on strike and they never paid me my money back!

Also, it is more than likely important to have an Indian person from the right part of india, since not all are created equally. For example, when I worked at the American Red Cross, my boss was from Kerala, India and lo and behold all of the East Asians were from Kerala. They all tell me that Kerala is nicer and richer t han where i went, which was Varanasi!

And yes, the Bureau of Labor Statistics says, that after Mexicans, Asians will be the fastest growing ethnic group! And of course Europeans will maintain their lead at 71 percent, with Africans coming in a distant fourth!
good luck!

I can definitely tell you have never been to India. India is a fascinating place, but not what one would consider a relaxing and comfortable place to visit. I don't think it will take over Europe's place as a travel capitol unless it shakes off third world status. Since only around 2% of India's population controls over 80% of the country's entire wealth, 98% of it is third world and will remain so, directly abutting and affecting the 1st world portions of the cities. Third world is not vacation mecca. Third world is where people want to escape from, not go to.

I couldn't agree more. India ranks pretty close to the bottom of the list of places I'd like to visit--right down there with Afghanistan and Somalia. If I'm going to vacation in a 3rd world country, I'd rather head to the Caribbean where I don't need to cram into a plane filled with people who don't believe in basic personal hygiene for 12 hours to get there.

India (along with most 3rd world countries) is a fascinating place to visit and experience, but generally if your able to do it through a business trip or something of along those lines. It is not a destination that gets considered when people are planning their vacations. I would go given the opportunity through my work, but not as a vacation spot. There are other 3rd world countries in Asia that are bigger tourist spots than India like Thailand and Malaysia. Therefore, I have to agree that India is much further away than 10yrs to being a vacation capital like Europe.
