Lawn guy--He was already taking care of the lawns for several homes in the neighborhood and seemed to be doing a good job. He does the work himself and I knew from week to week who would be showing up to cut the lawn. He was a nice guy, clean cut and obviously not illegal, and his rates seemed fair.

Plumber--got a referral from a neighbor. Liked the guys who came, didn't even ask prices, I had an emergency. Thought what they charged was more than fair and would call them back again. They got here about an hour after I called, and didn't charge an after hours fee even thought they didn't get here until 5:00 pm. They cleaned up after themselves as well.

What to do we look for in who we hire: moderate expectations, i.e. price! 2) clean cut and stable looking 2) gut instinct for sense of doing a good job or having them do an 8 hour look see, to see if they are willing to do a good job!!
