I am 17 (soon to be 18) heading off to college this fall and I want to work and make some money this summer. However, I live in a small town outside a small city where there aren't a lot of part-time jobs available, so I was wondering if there are any online jobs I can do that pay moderately well?

If you search this section, work and employment, there is a whole thread that I started and many people have run with.

I ran down several sources of jobs, some tied to certain areas of the country, some not.

For example, I believe it was JetBlue that has customer service people that work from home but they have to be in Salt Lake City.

Check it out and good luck with the job AND college.

You have neighbors! So, babysit their children, their dogs. Mow their lawn, clean their pool, clean their basement, clean their house, tutor their child in english, science, social studies, history, computers, call your pizza shop and hand out thier flyers, contact your census office and take the test to do temporary census work, find a nursery and pick weeds, haul dirt, etc...go to your zoo and work concession, go to your closest ballet studio or martial arts studio and offer to be receptionist for minimum wage, call your neighborhood newspaper and be a newspaper girl/boy, etc....

I contend there are not.
Most, if not all, are scams.
Those in this thread posting links are most likely
operators and/or affiliates of those scams.
What amazes me is how many people still send
money to these hucksters in hopes of finding
work-at-home jobs.
If they are legitimate there should be no costs,
no start up/registration fees, escrow accts., etc.
If they are real they won't ask for any.

99.9 percent of any leads you get, anywhere, anytime, will be a scam. Finding a legit online job is extremely hard because the positions that are available have many people going after them.

They are legit and pay by the hour. I know because I worked for them for the digital from analog tv switch. I was paid $9/hr and worked on my computer from my couch helping people get the digital converter installed over the phone, I wore a headset and took calls.

I don't know if they are hiring now, but after the converstion project I was offered a position for the same pay at 32 hours per week doing customer service for Comcast Cable, but declined in favor of a local job.

There are legitimate work at home employers out there... you just have to be VERY careful. You should never EVER have to pay anyone for a job.. they pay you. If they ask for money of any kind, BOLT!

Two things you can legitimately do online, but they don't offer stable income... taking surveys and playing poker. I actually know people who pay their rent with online poker, while surveys are more reliable but pay much less (like $2-5 per survey).
