My first day is on May 18th. Now this is not the job I was hoping to get because it was a little further from where I lived but after getting a tour of the place yesterday and seeing who my co workers would be I decided that maybe it won't be too bad after all. So now that I have this job I will call the other place on Monday that is a lot closer to me to find out if they made a hiring decision yet. So that way I won't have to worry about them calling once I start the other job. So the only small negatives of this job is...

have to work on saturday from 9am to 12pm twice a month
Instead of 10 min to get to work, it will take me 30 min
Have to get up at 6am instead of 7am in the morning.

So not really a big deal but it will take me about a month to get used to but I'm just thankful I got another opportunity to be working again.

Congrats on finding a job. Hopefully, this will be the right job for you.

Not sure how this company works, but did you get the offer in writing or only verbal? My only suggestion for now would be to not tell the other company your no longer interested until you get a formal offer in writing. I've been reading about some companies who are rescinding their offers to candidates for whatever reason.

No I won't call the other company until the written offer comes in on Monday. Once I get that then I will call the other place.

Yes I only was applying to jobs I really had a strong interest in which is why it's a good feeling. The money is slighty higher than what I was making in January and the job is providing Career and Life Skills Counseling to Teen Parents and High School Dropouts.

Congratulations!

I get up at 6 am everyday, commute 33 miles each way for 45 minutes. You'll get used to it.
