HELL NO.

I was actually put on disability during that job because I caught some sort of blood staph infection, probably from the store. I was fine 2 weeks later but my doctor (who had been trying to get me to quit because of how stressed I was) put me on 4 months disability to slow my life down a bit and recover.

The job was a 24 hour store I was the only manager there. I basically had to cover shifts (because they wouldn't let me hire anyone new, including an asst. manager) plus do restocking, merchandising, food safety etc etc. there just wasn't enough time in a 24 hour day to do it.

The worst thing? Because I was working so many hours and on salary, it worked out to getting paid just under $6 an hour.

That is terrible!!

I am sure they had it figured out. It is amazing how owners do that to people. I think it is because you are just a number rather than a person.

truly amazing!

I went on Disability from that job in March of last year. I went into two of the stores recently (it's a chain) and both had new managers/asst. managers. I asked the people working there if XXX was still there (the old managers that I was familiar with) and neither of them even recognized the names....

I'm glad I got out when I did.

I've been working 60+ hours a week with no break for several weeks now. I have a full time job and I also freelance and ahve some deadlines looming. And I'm working with a few other people to get a business proposal together. We've found startup capital through a venture capitalist, but of course he wants a full business plan on the table before he'll commit to tossing half a million into the pot...

Anyhow, I can certainly empathize and hope you get a day off sooN!

This reminds me of that sketch they used to run on 'Living Color' where the Jamaican family worked like 16 jobs each. There is everything wrong with working 2 full time jobs and 1 part time job. That's damn near 100 hours a week. You either need to seriously curtail your standard of living, get a WAAAAY better job. (singular) Or take one of those jobs and go to school instead of the job to get some training to get a better job. I could not live with myself if I was away from my family and the baby that long in my life. People who work those long hours usually die very young.

I'm working all the extra time right now because I'm hoping to get a busines up and running that will eventually allow me to retire early. It's also a business that I have a passion for, I along with my partners met through our "hobby" and ahve figured out a way to make money off of it. To me that's worth the long hours, because I see a reward greater than a paycheck in the future

I agree though, if you are just slaving away at go nowhere jobs, time to reassess you situation and lower your standard of living or do something to cut back on some of those hours.

If you can do what you love as a hobby and turn it into a job, awesomeness! I just cringe at these poor guys who work 3000+ hours a year and are tired all the time. That is not a way to live.

Sorry your employer is taking advantage of you.
I remember I worked 2 jobs once. (one full time one part time). I wound up getting very sick from it.

I also worked full time and went to grad school full time. I guess I was younger and had only me to focus on. Now I have to be more picky because I have a child and a husband.

That's why I suggest anyone young and single to get their education out of the way before marriage and family concerns.

Maybe you will get a break soon. Good luck.
