I keep getting calls and email about working for an Insurance company and you don't need sales experience. One today said they'd load me $40,000 to start a business. I don't like sales of insurance in the first place, because I think Health Insurance in America sucks / is a big for profit business with little real care for the policy holders.
Anyone work or try out these Health Insurance Sales jobs? Or are they a big scam?
There are many legitimate insurance/financial services positions. Some want you to become a franchise, others are looking for sales people. If they're a recognized company, I wouldn't assume it's a scam. However, that $40K is likely seed money for you to franchise an agency. It's not my cup of tea, but might be suitable for someone.
There is not a lot of money to be made in health insurance these days. The pay has dropped dramatically for agents in this industry. Many agents even ones with a large book of business struggle to stay in business. If you want to get in the Health Insurance business be sure you have a second job as it can take up to six moths or more before you get any payments for any case that you submit. If you receive anything at all.
My advice see if your question has been presented on Insurance Forum under the health insurance or health reform sections. You can get a lot of good advice there and can really get a true picture of what the health insurance market is really like today from the agents perspective.
