Default At an interview for a sales job...

Do you attempt to close multiple times, as you are told you should do during a direct sale?

I had an amusing experience with this yesterday. I'm really not the pushy type, but I really was having fun trying to close the interviewer. I was amused... I get the feeling he was not-so-much. lol

What do you think of closing efforts in an interview for a sales job?

Some companies don't use hard sales to move thier products. If the corporate culture is hard selling, then you need to hard sell at the interviw. If the corporate culture is "We've got a good product and your job is more to market it because if people know it's there it will sell itself" then you very likely won't get the job.

That's where doing your research prior to the interview regarding not only the company but their corporate culture is vital.

Agree. You can probably tell by the product the kind of sales person they are looking for but if not then call the sales department for that company a few times and see how the people act (if possible). See what questions they ask, the attitude they have, how they sell their product etc.

It could be a good gauge of the attitude you may need to bring to the interview. You could probably also turn it into a talking point of yours if you notice issues with the sales person or their process.

Good luck!!
