Are there are Florida police depts that would accept a transfer from NJ State Police? I have nine years in would like to move to Marco Island Naples area.

Many Florida PD's are laying off, not hiring. I know that if you transfer from a Florida PD your retirements transfer with you, but I doubt they would from NY. You would possibly be starting at the bottom and maybe even have to go through the academy again.

I believe there are inter-juridisctional police officer "swap" programs which you might look into. In many areas, familiarity often breeds contempt, nepotism takes over and many police departments participate in such a "swap" program for I believe something like one year stints. Might be worth looking into for a start. Good luck!
