It is amazing that Michigan is so baldy off, considering it has the University of Michigan and Michigan State University.
But then again California has the finest public state Universities and it isn't doing well either.

And they both have the same thing in common.....too many liberals who vote for liberal agenda's/politicians. Doesn't work in either state and has never worked anywhere it has been tried. Unforunately, the rest of us are stuck dealing with it.

What the heck does having colleges have anything to do with it? Graduate a million a year, if there aren't jobs for them it's really all moot, isn't it? A couple of schools can't support the economic collapse of an entire state.

Just an FYI, the (small) company I work for has hired eight people in the past two months as an indirect result of stimulous funds. Those are full time good paying positions with full benefits due to work we've gotten from agencies who have received funding. We've gone from 28 to 36 people in two months. The stimulous money IS creating jobs. Those jobs will create other jobs as people once again can buy cars, eat out, etc.

Are they actually long term jobs? I doubt it. This thing is going to fail, illustrated by the fact that the powers that be are calling for another.

The difference is that you haven't been working in a job with skills that don't eaily translate to another position or work that will continue to be available in this country (ie auto assembly line), haven't bought a home and settled in thinking the warm fuzzy thoughts that the UAW has fed it's members forever about being a good worker and being taken care of for life.

Far too many were drinking that company line Koolaid and wearing blinders as to what was really happening. The smart ones went to classes at night to get a degree in something that was marketable and transferable.
