Hello,

I am looking for full time work, but in the meantime, I accepted a temporary job that will be for two months.

Do I list the temporary job on my resume? Do I list it as a temporary and/or contract position?

The job is in my industry, however, from what I know so far, it's not the type of job I would be looking for as a permanent position (it's a step or two backwards and something that I could not do long term anymore, at least in general).

Thanks!

I don't see why not. I had two temporary jobs since I was laid off last December -- one I put down and the other I left off. I chose to leave off the low-wage part-time crummy retail job.

I think in todays economy it does not hurt to be honest about a temp job, especially if leaving it off your resume leaves a big gaping hole in your history.

I say if it is relevant to the position you are seeking, why not?

So it sounds like it is a good idea to put the job on my resume, which makes sense!

I would rather include the job as it shows that I have been working while I am looking for a permanent job. I was just not sure as I have not worked at a temporary job before.

Thanks!

I would definitely use it! But be careful how you list it to avoid confusion

ABC Company (temporary placement through XYZ Staffing)

is the way I suggest. You do'nt want to give the indication that you were an employee of ABC Company, because technically you aren't, and if they call for a reference, ABC Co's HR department will have no record of you as an employee.
