NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. service sector employees who receive tips have been excluded from the latest hike in the federal minimum wage that kicked in on Friday, leaving the public to cover the cost of their healthcare, according to economists and advocates.

First of all, very few servers end up making minimum wage when all is said and done.

Next, employer sponsored healthcare and minimum wage do not go hand in hand.

Very poorly written article that really says nothing.

So? If you are a server and rely on your salary, you aren't very good at your job. I used to be a server, and my salary was 2.83/hr. Work hard, be charming and you can get 20-25% tip easily.
