Well, since you asked....

The position I had was taken with the understanding that it would be for one year. It was not a position in my regular line of work and did nothing to advance my skills, experience or benefit me in any way other than financially. The year was up and I am ready to move on to a job that is more in line with my career objectives.

Also, the job was very stressful and not at all rewarding. I have good skills and am reasonably intelligent and I have already been on five interviews, several of which are promising. I have no doubt that I'll be back working in a very short time. Especially now that I know the "suit secret thing" LOL

Basically I've let myself go, since I work at home. But I recently got spiffed up, hair, makeup, clothes, it really does make a difference. My mother used to say, dress like a bum and you'll get treated like a bum!

Clothes absolutely make a difference. At heart, I am a slob most comfortable in jeans and a Tshirt.

But if you go to work, an interview, a government agency, whatever, you are treated better if you are dressed nicely.

Good luck to you.
I always wear something nice on interviews even though, like you, I live in a rural place (but I am from a big city area).

Better to give respect and be overdressed than 'underdressed.' They say to dress for the job you want...

I have to say I am quite sick of the TV Guy Drama stepping into every threads..

Branson, you don't need to justify to anyone why you left your job. I left a job voluntarily last year and yes, I am still out of work but you know, I still think I did the right thing.
