Default Would you list this job as volunteery or as an actual job?

I had been hired by a company that wanted me to train with them before being put into position. I had worked there for 6 months and did not get paid. On that last week, before I was let go under favorable circumstances, I was paid for a weeks work.

The company doesn't keep record of who they train. So if an employer were to call this company they will be told that there is no record of me, even though I had worked there.

I had always listed it as a job, because it was a potential job at the time and, I guess, because I got paid on the last week and therefore it isn't a volunteer job in that light.

With the problem of the company not keeping records of their trainees, aka me, should I list this as a volunteer job on my resume and on applications?

Thank you for the quick reply.

Annerk, if it is listed as an internship, do you think that I should include it on job applications in the employment section?

If anyone has other suggestions or comments they would like to add, even those that would agree with Annerk, any comments are welcome.

Again thank you Annerk.

I would definitely include it. If you are called for an interview, explain that it was an unpaid internship, and they don't keep records on the interns. Did you have a spcific person you reported to? Maybe use that person as a reference contact. Or even anyone who worked there.

Your references don't "have" to be a supervisor, I've acted as a reference for any number of coworkers that I didn't supervise. I was upfront that I wasn't their supervisor, but that they were punctual, got along well with co-workers, and seemed to manage their time well. Good luck!
