I was hoping that there would be some responses to this post. Full time sounds unrealistic, but I'm interested hearing from paid bloggers and how they got started. Hopefully we'll hear from some other posters.
I have a relative who had a paid weekly blog and he got $50 for each one. He got the gig because of his life experiences and connections and he did it as long as he had time to do it.
blogs get paid based on ad revenue. Programs such as google ad sense pay web site on a per-click basis. That means you let google put a banner ad on the top or right hand side of your screen and you get paid every time someone clicks on the ad. The standard rate is about 2 cents per click.
If you want to make a livible wage, you can do the math...You need a LOT of followers. The standard equation in the industry is that about 5% of people on a site will click a banner ad. Doing the math, this means to make just over $30,000 per year, you need at least 82,000 unique people to visit your site per day.
It is possible to blog as a sole source of income, however for most people it is unrealistic...
