Looking For Unconventional Job Opportunities
Hey Everyone -
I'm recently unemployed (like a tenth of everyone on here) and am looking for unconventional job opportunities. By unconventional I mean ""The Deadliest Catch" without the deadliest part. Travel, higher risk, no ties to the "conventional" world, i.e. wife, kids, white picket fence. Work that requires unattached, mobile, smart, willing and adventurous people. Is there a place to look for work such as this?
By the way, I'm a degreed engineer (mechanical) who has spent the last 10 years working in the industrial and aerospace product development world. And am over it.
Hope to hear some ideas.
Thanks, Jason

my first thought is type what you want into google, since you are willing to go anywhere. I just googled "cruise ship jobs" and a bunch of websites come up. You could look for work in high-tourism areas - if they are year-round. Contact places you are interested in even if they are not hiring. How about zoos? I am sure you'll be wanted somewhere - good luck.

Better yet, go into www.indeed.com and do the same thing, except that you get actually jobs and can narrow it down by geography.

Peace Corps or some other NGO that could use your skills? Then a wider perspective should open up. Actually, I think a lot of NGOs could use you.

I had to Wikepedia "NGO" and they say there's over 40,000 NGO's internationally. Where do I start!?
