Ok, just lamenting and kicking myself a bit. In my day and age it was a real black mark to get fired. In my last job and at the rate things were going, I would have gotten myself fired. Even though they told me I wasn't on the radar for getting fired, I am not stupid and can read policy. If I did not meet my 100 billable hours per week I was on the chopping block. In retrospect, however, that policy wasn't in place when I was hired. I could have very easily documented everything along the way, along with the hours I would have had to work beyond 40 with no overtime, in order to just get the job done.

Ok, this is just sort of a rant. Had I known all of these extensions were going to keep passing...I would have just gone for getting fired. As things stand, sure, I can say I voluntarily quit, while my bank account keeps dwindling. Is there an upside to my having quit?

I find it impossible to believe that a company, would require 100 billable hours per week. Seriously, even in the top 10 Legal firms in the world, don't require half that for their associate attorneys. I know you've had some job issues, but this one seems to be quite a stretch. Frankly, it's absurd. Bill 20-hrs a day for a 5-day work week? 14+ for a 7-day? I'm hoping you meant 100/month or, you decided to yank our chains today.

100 billable units per week, 5 hours per day. This did not include travel or documenting everything. No, not trying to yank yer chain. Their requirements were ridiculous - and in social services no less.

Ahh, "units" not "hours." Huge difference. That's 25 hrs billable per week, not 100. Again, don't know exactly what you're billing for, but it does seem high for social services.

It was high. High to the extent it was preferable to leave a voicemail for someone and bill it as 15 minutes, vs. really helping anyone. This is in large part why I quit. What a scam.

Yeah, my wife is an attorney. She billed over 2200 hours last year which is a bit north of 8-hrs per day. But it's all legit. I'll attest to the fact that she'd get home around 7pm, have dinner, and put another 3-hrs or so in from home. Brutal life.

Not everyone who gets fired gets Unemployment benefits...FYI

Hindsight is 20/20...I know I kick myself EVERY damn day I quit my temp job instead of riding it out but at the time I made what I thought was the best decision for myself and my family.

Did I know a recession was coming? No. Neither did you.

I know it's really hard financially but look forward now. I have finally let go and forgiven myself for 'screwing up.' You need to, also.
