Seeing your location, I believe that!! I work in Conshohocken, and a lot of my co workers are from Philly..
A Lady at my job said tonight-"I'm broke because I have a mortagage to pay, food to buy, electric bill, water bill, etc..."
I have the same bills and know how to budget. Part of knowing how to budget is paying attention everyday to what's coming out of your account so you will know where to draw the financial line.
Why would any 'manager' bring her statement to work and discuss it? Sounds very unprofessional..
Most managers at small-time stores like Blockbuster aren't very "professional." I'm one of the few managers around that store that acts like a "professional." To top it all off, she was 19 and still an immature brat who didn't know how to handle money.
Anyone experienced coworkers coming to them 2 or 3 days before pay day asing-"can I borrow $20 until payday? And I'm stunned because some of these people are 45 and older and are having trouble managing their money. But what's even worst is when payday comes, the person who borrowed the money does not say a word about the money they borrowed from you. They act as if they never borrowed any money from you at all which is why my lending out days are over at the workplace.
Recently some coworker took up a collection to help out a single mom whose live in boyfriend took off with the cash she had to pay the rent. I ended up contributing $15 but was a little burned when I saw her outside smoking cigarettes. Here I'm too cheap to buy cigarettes for myself - but I felt like I had just paid for hers. Well -- anyhow she made that month's rent but the next month couldn't and had to move.
