Hello all,
I'm a lady in my 50's....looking for p/t have been on several interviews with a 23 yr backround in customer, clerical skills. My question is...I dont get anywhere past an interview, is it my age?? Because I do get interviewed by people young enough to be my children (no pun intented) can someone explain what it is??? I dont get it. Just want to get out abit and have diversity. Thank you for your thoughts...
think of the signing age for the military. you have to much experience. Life experience . the employer looks at you as being set in your ways because you have life experience to back up what you think or feel . now with the younger applicants they can blow smoke up there .... lie and threaten to keep them motivated and frightened to do the job. the other thing is do you have a ton of experience meaning 3 years or more in a particular job. then possibly your a threat. cant hire someone that could potentially take my job. but that's just a thought . you dont get old you get better
Not substandard, but I'm not going to pretend it's a $15 an hour and/or commissioned job either. FOH!
Same here.
Most likely, I just wouldn't take the job for $8 unless the requirements are pud to begin with.
On one hand, it's admirable to see so many people say they'd work their hardest no matter what; on the other hand, a surplus of people willing to do $20+ work for $8 (or even worse, for free I.e. unpaid internships) is going to lower the going rate for everyone, including themselves.
Why do so many people think that a particular job should be worth more? It is only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it. Just like an employee is only worth what somebody agrees to pay them. If they want to earn more then they need to make themselves more valuable.
Yes.
If I accept a job for $8/hour; I will work to the best of my ability for the amount of money I contracted to work for.
If not, I should not be in that job.
It's called integrity, folks.
$8/hour doesn't buy integrity. To expect values of any kind for that price is laughable.
$8/hour buys a barely functioning retard.
