So after picking at school for almost the last three years, I noticed the 30unit welding certificate.
I personally see plenty of excitement and personal fulfillment coming out of it as opposed to other fields which could take longer.
That said, is the demand for trained welders low all over the country?
Or are there areas where employment prospects are quite promising provided you follow the right channels?

Around here it seems that most jobs that require a welding component also require something else, ie plumbing, electrician, heavy equipment operator, mechanic, class A-B-C CDL, body/paint shop knowledge, forklift certified, etc. Still it is a skill that seems to be in demand as long as you can tie it together with something else.

I went to high school with a kid who got trained there as a welder (this was when there were still shop classes). He's never been out of work for more than a day since-1972.

@annerk

Despite a "career limbo-ing" accident, my CDL with all endorsements is still quite valid.

Guess this will all come in handy should I want to work some remote railroad right-of-ways in the Midwest or something.

After driving a truck and experiencing enough other states to shake my "CA supremacy" mentality, welding appears to be an even better training avenue to making my escape sooner.

I'm not sure why you are so upset with my post. You asked, I told you how it was around here. Get over yourself.

How did I sound upset about your post.

As for getting over myself, I tried it, didn't work.

However, things have a nice way of getting over me.
