French citizenship (taxes, living in, legal)

Anyone here better knowledged mind elaborating on the matter of french citizenship.

I've read the blue print. To be eligible it requires 5 years of legal residency in France or two years if you're a graduate from french ecole/uni. But is it really that easy? Share your experience please.

Also I cant seem to find the details of the requirement such as restriction on days of absence from the country published by the government. Someone give me a hand

as for me, I recently married a Frenchman (I am a USC) and I know if we move there, I can go through the process of getting a greencard.

There are many different situations for living in France and I believe it changes daily

or google the words US citizen french citizenship and see what comes up.. I know there is alot of info out there but whether its up to date is another thing.

If you are an american, you will have to 1) speak French! 2) give up your US citizenship!

According to whom?
The USA neither recognizes dual citizenship, nor forbids it.
I think getting French citizenship can be as complicated as each individual case.

If you are from the former French colonial Empire, it's much easier...same as members of the Commonwealth states for the UK, I surmise....

Also, I wanted to add about the guide on French Citzenship that it's a work in progress so if you've got more information to feel free to comment on it either here or on the post. It's hard to put together the bits and pieces of information actually available on the subject to make it thorough. I do have quite a bit of info on the subject, though!

If French citizenship is so hard to get, bypass it by getting citizenship from an easier European country and using the loophole to get every French right in France by being a EU member. This also subjects you to the EU's higher taxes on your world assets. Now why would you want to do that?

or find yourself a willing mate, but don't make the "arrangement" too obvious.



footnote: be forewarned, at this point the subtle race and class divisions become fully open, and the administrative monitoring detects it thus all the easier!
