Having a place to live comes to mind.

What if you already own a house but it's not located somewhere convenient for her to commute to work? Then you'd have sell it, relocate, and buy a new house!

My plan is to have the cash or liquid assets to buy a house ready but not bother buying the house itself until the day of marriage.

She doesn't have to work... but if inclined she can change jobs.

This isn't about fault... it's about pragmatism.
Perhaps we should start with a few drinks and get to know each other?

When you next come to the US... I'll meet you in DC or NYC.
On the way back to my house I'll show you why I live here.

very crazy ,yes?

what about you?
This situation is similar in Russia too. Most of women make their own career but want to have a house, a car, extra money, jewelry etc. from their husbands. But in fact salaries in Russia are the similar for both males and females. That's crazy.

In the US... men used to make a LOT more than women doing the same job.
The women thought that was unfair so they did something about it.

Now everyone doing the same job earns the same lower pay that women used to get.
Some actually think this is good for anyone or "progress".

The dreaded equality.
I don't need a man for more than the enjoyment of his company; I make my own money and own two houses.

Since I would want to live in the city, it is definitely not important for him to own a house
