The cost of the plastic bags were included in the invoice. Now, we continue to pay them, and we pay extra for the new bags. When economy makes love with ecology, the newborn baby is called...swindle.

The other day I cleaned and gutted a 4kg Red Emperor (a type of snapper) - it all went into plastic grocery bags - three of them! Then into the bin. If I were to just throw it into the bin, in this heat (high 30's Celsius, or 100+F) it wouldn't have been too pleasant! For the entire neighbourhood. They make the bags compostable these days, which means they're not all that strong, but they're good enough for getting the groceries home and then one other use.

I take a "green" bag or two with me and use them, but always want at least five or six plastic ones a week for using as bin liners.

The biggest offender is electronics. The stuff that comes in that hard stiff plastic that you have to cut with strong scissors to open. You buy a tiny little USB drive and it comes in thick plastic ten times its size. What about that?

We sure need some of that nailing and hitting here. Some people are just pigs.

DrEarth: ROTFLMAO!!!

Thanks for that.

That's exactly the sort of packaging I was talking about. You need strong scissors and you have to be careful of the sharp edges of the plastic as it can cut you. I doubt that stuff is very biodegradable either. And you can't use it again, like plastic bags.
