What are the ten most recognized U.S. cities for foreigners?
Obviously New York is probably #1, but what are the other cities people from outside the U.S. have heard the most?

Hmmm I wonder how much it varies country to country. Obviously cities like New York, L.A. and Chicago will always be recognized. Orlando I suppose would from Disneyworld although I never think about Orlando and I'm from the U.S. (but maybe that's the point). I've never really thought of Pittsburgh as that recognizable though maybe you're right because of the steel industry. And Houston more recognizable than Dallas? I would think the show would've made Dallas the most recognizable Texas city but I could be wrong. In general do people from outside the U.S. know a lot of U.S. cities?

New York and Chicago seems to be a weekend shopping spree place, Orlando is all the theme parks a popular family destination, many cities are known from films and tv dramas I would say. Its supprising how many seem to think Hawaii isnt part of the US.

These are the ones you hear about all the time ("in order of appearance")
New York
Hollywood (yeah, yeah, yeah... )
L.A.
New Orleans
Washington
Miami
Chicago
Huston
And these from ones in a while (not so often)
Anchorage
Boston
I actually conducted a survey on this once with my class mates (I wanted to know for myself) and this is the result. Don't know how well it corresponds with other areas in the country, though. (I live in the middle south)
