you are a larger country, if we are talking london v new york, you cannot say new york music scene hasn't got strong roots from the london music scene the rolling stones, david bowie, pink floyd, etc. and probably vice versa aswell, in my opinion there is little between the two cities and it comes down to opinion and preference

How many of those acts are from london though? New york itself actually creates music genres itself

As for the question in the thread title, I don't know the answer, out of the cities I have to, I would classify Barcelona, Tel Aviv and Belgrade as the most exciting ones.
