Bay Area outside of San Francisco sounds pretty right. I think Oakland might be great as it's far enough from the Pacific to be a lot more shielded from the cold fog.

Aberdeen, Scotland is a nice town, temperatures seem to be pretty similar to what you've described, although it's disputable if it fits your English language criteria :-)).

Aberdeen might be a bit damp for the original poster. It is a nice spot, though.

Why would anyone idealize a city with a temperature range of 4-16 degrees centigrade (this is the World forum)? That's certainly not ideal to me (or most other people). Good luck finding that place. I would say that anywhere from San Francisco to San Francisco would about cover it I hope you have the cash! Don't bother going to the East Bay or Silicon Valley, 'cause you'll roast!

Default Taos

Taos, NM, unless you're looking for a bigger city. Fabulous weather, generally dry except during summer monsoon but that keeps the temps down to a reasonable amount so much that many people have no air conditioning. Spanish & English spoken. The loveliest part of NM, and you can get into the mountains in 25 minutes. Crime is generally isolated and violent crime tends to be between two violent people, not perpetrated on others. Quite lovely, actually. If I could move to the places in Europe I know the best, but have Taos weather, I'd be there in a minute.

I don't know, Taos can get pretty toasty in the summer.

Anyways, I think I've found the perfect place for me: Carmel, CA
