I'm french-canadian too. I travel a lot but I make it a point to remain low key and not talk about myself. When I visit a place, I don't want to start yapping about home like so many ugly tourists do. People may ask me where I'm from but I quickly change the subject so I never got to ask them where they thought I was from.

Although, at home, a lot of people think I'm italian or even arabic because I can get pretty olive-dark in he summer.

People tend to think I am Irish at first because I have red hair and pale skin, then when I open my mouth they mistake me for English or bizarely sometimes as new Zealander or South African ( as they can't really place my English).

You have been confused for Filipino as well as Italian. I don't believe that because Italians and Filipinos show zero resemblance to each other. Who the heck would confuse Silvio Berlusconi for being part of the same race as Manny Pacquiao.

Well Australia does not have as many coloured people as the USA, however the Aboriginal population here is close to 3% of the poplation. However there is an increase in immigrants from places such as Sudan, Somolia and places like that, as well as from India.

Whereas just a few years ago you could go days & hardly see a black person , now you will come across them daily in all capital cities and the smaller cities.
