I'm not sure if you were directing any of that to me, but that's what I meant lol.

I had a friend from Barcelona who lived for a few months in a hispanic immigrant neighborhood. She had the problem the local hispanics would speak English, assuming she was American and non-Hispanic, to her when her English wasn't very good.
The biggest thing that would be southern Europeans stand might be dress sense, but there's enough overlap in style that many could pass for Americans.
I'm Salvadorean American and traveling abroad a few times and around the US, it is funny how people have perceive me from different countries.
In the States people have assumed that I am either Thai, Indonesian, Mix of African American and White, Cambodian, or Filipino. Even Latinos have mistaken me to be Asian.
In Canada, people assumed that I'm from Brazil or from the Caribbean.
In Europe, They have assumed that I'm Bangladesh, Indian, Moroccan, or Egyptian or that I'm from England.
In Asia, Everybody assumed that I'm Thai or Cambodian or Indian .
But in all of those places most people think I'm Canadian. But they are surprised when I tell them that I'm American and then tell me that I don't act American at all.
