I've been to a number of countries on this planet as a non drinker. As long as there is bottled water available Im fine. For someone that likes to have an alcoholic drink, then I'm sure they can find it wherever they go.
Like others, I don't drink any alcohol and yet, I have traveled all over the world and continue doing so. I have never had a problem with anyone because of it...
If your friends get mad at you for not drinking, all it means is that they are immature/dumb or that you need new friends.
Which is to say watching movies and travel shows it seems that people all over the world drink. A lot. Not that I care. However, I know there are people here in the states who consider me odd since I don't drink. I've had people who I've been friends with for years and know I don't drink get mad at me for turning down a beer at a party.
All that said it seems like Americans drink a lot less than most other people. Americans are a lot less likely to have a beer or glass of wine with their supper (much less there lunch) than other people.
So if I'm already the odd man out here is there any way for me to enjoyably travel to other countries where drinking is much more expected without taking up drinking? I mean yeah on that account I'd do okay in the Islamic countries, but other than Egypt and Turkey there aren't really any majority Muslim countries I want to travel to.
I am not sure if you're being serious or not......
So if I'm already the odd man out here is there any way for me to enjoyably travel to other countries where drinking is much more expected without taking up drinking?
1. Buy a plane ticket.
2. Arrive at destination.
3. Check into hotel.
4. Don't drink.
I drink and I enjoy it, if someone doesn't drink then they can have fun in a different way.
I spent 1 month in India without drinking and I didn't feel I missed out on anything. If anything, drinking is a way to wind yourself in trouble.
