Yes, Scotland is a different region from England. It has distinguishable differences from England, Ireland, and Wales. Scotland is a nation but a part of Great Britain but has distinguishable differences from England.
You are being so rude and ignorant it is disgusting.
You are just jealous I am more intelligent, worldly, and globally conscious than you are, so it makes you write those nasty rude posts that I have reported to the city-data moderators. This is the third or 4th time you have been on the world forum and writing rude and harassment posts to me and it has to stop.

I don't know if you're joking or not, but you're pretty clearly wrong. Your arguments also headed down a wrong path. No one is arguing that Scotland and England are different. What they are arguing is that Scotland is part of Great Britain and therefore British (i.e. England and Great Britain are not the exact same thing).
Also, you sound kind of huffy. It's pretty funny.

Why are you even going into this argument?
That person had no right to insult me like that, even if I was wrong.
But guess what, I am 100% right with what I said!
That person was arguing with me and saying that England and Scotland are not different but they are. So that makes them different regions technically.
I ALREADY KNOW SCOTLAND IS PART OF GREAT BRITAIN. I ALREADY SAID THAT. I ALREADY KNOW ENGLAND AND GREAT BRITAIN ARE NOT THE SAME THING. When did I not say that!? What I was saying is that Scotland is technically different from England.
Scotland is pretty different from England so no way I will say it is "British." It technically is its own nation. People in Scotland that are of Scottish descent most likely get very irritated to be considered "British" because they are "Scottish" instead so they would 100% agree with me.
Similar situation with northern Ireland and Wales.
Just because the rude person ben86 from London says so does mean the people in Scotland want that.
Scotland, Wales, and that northern part of Ireland do not want England to be so imperialistic with them as if it is trying to conquer those places. Exactly the reason why some Irish people committed terrorist attacks in England about two decades ago and these two countries had tension with each other because they were getting irritated England was trying to conquer parts of Ireland and the history England had with Ireland in general...
I am actually irritated in general England tried to be so imperialistic and trying to conquer certain countries before.
And it is such a small country. I like London a lot but the rest of England? hahaha. Mostly Grey, flat, depressing, small. Maybe I like Brighton and a few other places like that but those are the only exceptions.
I am so grateful I live in the USA even though I like London, Brighton, and a tiny few pieces of other areas of England. England/UK is still one of my favorite countries but yes huge pieces of it seem mostly grey, flat, depressing, and it is small in general. Take away London and what would that country have!? Almost all of England's greatness is concentrated in London.
Also this is off topic from the thread subject so you and ben86 please stop saying all these rude and negative things about me and stop trying to sound like smart asses when both of you are the ones that are wrong. Do not take away the credibility I have on this website.

People, you forgot Oslo and Trondheim (Norway), Helsinki and Turku (Finland), Sapporo (Japan), Petropavlosk Kamtachskii,Vladivostok (Russia), Punta Arenas (Argentina), I reckon that one is smaller, but should be included in the list, because it still exceeds 10.000 inhabitants , which is the biggest metro area in Subarctica.

Uh, I'm in this because this is a public discussion forum? Have you used one of these before?
Why are you going on this rant? Scotland is British. British is a larger identity that can include Scots. The reason people are saying you are equating English and British is because you denied including British cities in your list by saying that Scotland is not a part of England (hence why we think you're confused and implying that you think English is the same as British which is a common enough mistake).

LOL.
Because you and ben86 sure like to be rude and act like smart asses me and say I am wrong with what I said when I was always right what I said. Both of you just misinterpreted.
NO. I already said that I know England and Britain is different. Scotland is not a part of England but it is a part of Britain/UK. And Scotland and Irish cities are colder than cities in England. Scotland and England are different.
And I honestly don't care anymore. For England I only like London and Brighton, For Scotland which is part of Great Britain/UK whatever I only like Edinburgh.
People in Scotland probably get very irritated when people from England try to sound so imperialistic and say Scotland/Scottish people are "British." I am sure they rather be called "Scottish" and not be associated with England/Great Britain and the United Kingdom in general.

I dunno about Minneapolis, but I am freezing my *** off in Wisconsin.
What can I say, the winters here are not that long and steady as in Moscow (summers of course are much hotter on average,) and the temperature on average is supposedly higher, but the HUMIDITY makes all the difference. It feels more miserable here because of this particular factor IMO.

Again - I am not sure that Vladivostok is all that cold. I have an impression that Russian Far East ( not Siberia of course,) is not all that bad, but you definitely can find some other Russian cities where the night is like 24/7, no one can get outside for days ( because they'll freeze to death) and the rest of it. If anyone can figure out how to found cities in those kind of places, it must be Russians.
( Oh, I've already found the coldest city in the world, but of course the population is 1,434 only )
There we go - Verkhoyansk.
Average monthly temperatures range from −45.8 °C (−50.4 °F) in January to 16.9 °C (62.4 °F) in July

Fine, I hope that England, Scotland, Britain issue has been solved to everyone's satisfaction now
On average Irish cities are not colder than English cities, in the winter they are almost an entire hardiness zone milder. Cornwall is pretty mild, though.
But Ireland doesn't have many big cities, anyway. Dublin and Cork, that's about it And by American standards Cork is a not a big city anyway.

Why do people even stay there? I don't mind snow, but those winter temps are 20 to 30K below what I would consider acceptable
And what about wind chill? Some cities are notoriously windy, which can make it feel considerably colder than it actually is.

I don't know about absolute numbers and objective classifications, but Boston was cold enough for us.
Add the constant wind, the grayness of it all and the generally frigid nature of people in the area...and we got ourselves a beautiful relocation back to the South of the US after less than 2 years there.
