Default World's Best Places for Expats

According to the HSBC Expat Explorer Survey, the best places in the world for expats to settle down are:
  1. Singapore
  2. Hong Kong
  3. UAE
  4. Canada
  5. Spain
  6. Qatar
  7. Australia
...and the list goes on. It's measured across 3 dimensions (Economics, Experience, Offspring).

Agree/Disagree? Which cities/countries have you lived in where you can sock away lots of savings, enjoy decent nightlife/entertainment, and be content with raising your kids?

Oh yeah, The Big Stink. Newbies don't realise that The Big Stink is built on fetid swampland and requires that sand be imported (or stolen) to build those fake beaches on Sentosa Island.

Hundreds of millions of ringgit worth of sand shipped off to Singapore island

It depends on what you want/like. Everyone's needs and desires are different.

Your link lets you select options, and provides some output, but I would go crazy living in some of the areas that you listed.

For example, I have no desire to live on an island again. Your link doesn't provide much regarding weather.
You'd have to visit a few times, and stay for more than a week or two to make a big decision like moving.

Based on my criteria, my top 5 are:

Bahrain
Russia
Bermuda
Singapore
Saudi

The criteria selector is somewhat flawed as none of these would even remotely fit my needs.

Exactly: it depends on what you need. For your career, Qatar can be great, but what about entertainment? Expats stick together...
If work is not the only goal in your life, I should advice other countries.
For example: Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany.
Most expats love it, and former expats are glad to come back once in a while

Singapore is so overrated!

It's illegal to watch a adult movie in your own living room but you can bang a hooker in Geylan for $80/30 mins or one of these ladyboys on the street for half of that price.

oral sex was illegal until 2007 .. as it homosexuality...
Singapore legalises oral and anal sex but ban stays for homosexuals | World news | guardian.co.uk
oh and chewing gum... they even edited the word 'gay' out of the sex and the city movie....

Lived in Singapore for nearly 2 years and you'd have to drag me screaming and kicking back

Hong Kong - lived there for 3 years LOVED it.
