Visited them all, liked London the least out of the 3.
Tokyo just beats NYC imo because it's cleaner, safer and not that cold in the winter.

Default Only Have Visited New York City

I must say right up front that I haven't visited Tokyo or London , but judging from the Wikipedia I would choose Tokyo for a visit or short vacation.

I go to New York City frequently and have been to London several times. But never been to Tokyo (it's definitely on my list to visit).

I would say that New York City is basically at the top of today's global megacities in terms of what the cities offer. However, it's almost a toss-up between it and London. I would gladly live in either city.

None are clearly the best and there is no criteria given for what the "best" means.

It's okay though, because I'll put in Tokyo for the joy of it. Tokyo gets a lot of superlatives with its population size, GDP, number of Fortune Global 500 headquarters, and Michelin Stars. It's also has fantastic infrastructure with what is probably the most extensive mass transit system in the world by a fair distance, great social infrastructure, fairly little inequality, and very low crime. Though it lacks ethnic diversity, it does have diversity in other forms (but this does not include crippling economic inequality for the most part).

Lots of arguments to be made for and against, of course.

NYC or Tokyo.

London was a big disappointment when I traveled there years ago.

New York City is tops. There's no question.

I don't even know why people bother making these type of comparisons.

I live in Japan, and have been to Tokyo often. I also lived in New York City. I only visited London.

I think NYC is the better of them, just because there is so much variety. You can get off the train and end up in Poland (Greenpoint), Little India, Koreatown, into large Arabic neighborhoods or whatever else. Just completely enveloped into the world of it, with nothing but those stores, most of those people, that language, it's amazing.

Maybe London has similar elements to that, but when I visited, it just seemed like NYC was on another level altogether with it. That's not saying that London wouldn't have that as a major theme either though.

I LOVE Japan, and Tokyo is a great city. Obviously I've chosen to live in Japan and not NYC, so my actions dictate I've chosen Japan. That being said, I'm in OSAKA/KYOTO/KOBE/NARA area (KANSAI), which I personally feel is just as interesting as Tokyo, if not more, in many ways.

I can't judge accurately from a distance. I would not enjoy London; I've lived there once, and wouldn't care to again. New York looks more interesting; Tokyo, more livable.
