I find London to be better than almost every city in the U.S., except for NYC. In some categories, like history, London easily defeats any American city (although that's obvious).
London is one of those cities that everybody should visit at least once.

Not much love for London on this forum is there? Considering it's the most visited city in the world by international tourists and not that different from NY or Paris, I'm quite surprised. Each to their own I guess.
I'm quite surprised too to be honest. I love London, I think it's truly spectacular! My favorite city in the world, along with NYC. I never got the huge fascination with Paris. I mean, it is amazing, no denying that, but, from my own personal experiences, I never thought it was on the same level as NYC, London, or Tokyo. Again, not at all trying to knock Paris, but that's just my honest opinion.
Also great photo of Marrakech, Morocco in post #14, thanks.
I put Rome first. To be sure NYC, London, Paris, and San Francisco are up there. Among those, NYC probably has an edge on offering the greatest cosmopolitan experience. Can't speak about Asia.
My upbringing, education, and business experience have led me to focus on the North America, South America, and Europe as far east as Greece.
However, if I could start all over again, I would prepare my education to live at least one significant period of my life in Istanbul (at least two years, better 7-10 years), and to at least explore several southern and eastern Mediterranean cities.
Unfortunately, Mediterranean politics has not been conducive for some 1,400 years.
I agree that Paris is actually one of the best city in the world.
But from all the choices it's hard to choose for the best one haha.. But I'll probably choose one of the best is Paris.
Europe has nice landmarks like from Milan, Rome, Madrid, Barcelona, London, Athens....
Tokyo for me. Convenient mass transit, low crime rate, friendly/polite people for such a large city, decent nightlife, technology, lots of energy, beautiful women, good food, beautiful architecture, variety of neighborhoods ranging from hyper-modern to historical/traditional, close to mountains and ocean, mild climate.
Although as a city itself, I kind of prefer Yokohama over Tokyo, but Yokohama is part of the Tokyo metro area.
