Most Unique/ Foreign U.S. State?
In your opinion, what is the most unique, " non-normal/ typical American " state in the U.S. I have my thought but im not going to say, i dont want to make this about the state i think it is.
Basically: Culturally, Architecturally, Cuisine wise, Linguistically ( accents and such ) which one is the most odd or different ( unique ) and Why?
Im going to add a poll of a few that i think allot of people will say, But dont be discouraged if you have another state in mind.
Choose more than one if you want.

I'd like to vote Louisiana for the French influence but New Mexico seems so different.

I would say Hawaii, but I'm not sure if you were thinking of excluding it.

Alaska isn't foreign in feel, it feels typically North American.

I'd like to say California but given it's influence to the rest of America it could hardly be unique. Never been there but the state of Louisiana is unique given it's own ethnic language of Cajun, unique cuisine and Caribbean influence (voodoo?). Hawaii also falls into the unique U.S. state with it's own Polynesian culture and cuisine plus it's way out there from the mainland U.S.A. or North America
Louisiana and Hawaii just doesn't present the typical cowboy, mid-western, New England sub-cultures of America that can be lumped into several states.

Definitely Hawaii, both environment and cultural. They have their own Hawaiian language and belongs to a Non-American ethnic tribe which are the Pacific islanders. Never in the Mainland US you'll see Hawaiian rituals and traditions.
