Hello,

I am 39 years old US and Italian citizen thinking of expatriating to
a country where the cost of life is much lower than the US.
I would like to
be able to work and buy a business and just start a new life in that country.

What South/central American, Asian country an US citizen can legally work

or obtain residency easly without making big investment or have to mandatorly marry someone in order to obtain residency?

Can someone pls advice?

thank you so much

If you're going to start a business, than almost anywhere.

Most countries encourage that. China is attracting people from around the world making businesses there, and the cost of living is cheaper.

Most Asian countries aren't zoned to hell all over the place either. So you could easily get a storefront, quite close to whatever residence you have.

Keep in mind, as a citizen of the US, you will still need to pay taxes to the US government. Only country in the world that taxes it's citizens when living overseas.

Good luck.

It's only if you make over $80,000/yr.

Unless your Joe the Plumber, it's doubtful your business/employment abroad is going to be that good.

Try Costa Rica. They are very welcoming to Americans seeking to retire there. I personally several people who have retired and bought property there.

China is cheap if one wants to live like a local person there and doesn't need stuff from "back home" on a regular basis.

Easiest? Well, the easiest are usually the crappiest too.. I'd suggest Japan but emigrating there is very hard.. I would not suggest China.. it's not a place I'd like.. never had experience but know people who have.

Not necessarily true.
Mercenaries aren't taxed.

Seems like you make a lot of negative comments about cities/countries you've never experienced.

Ah, but know people who have. A friend of mine stayed in a southern Chinese city and didn't enjoy it one bit. It doesn't take an idiot to know that China is hardly a place people want to live.. not like western Europe, anyway.
